Featured Speaker
Brendan Feeley is a professional vedic astrologer with a full-time practice in Rockville, MD. He began his astrological studies with Howard Sasportas, Liz Greene and Ron Davidson, while living in London in 1975. In 1984, he took an interest in Vedic astrology or Jyotish and has been entirely devoted to the subject since that time. He is a founding member of the American Council of Vedic Astrologers and the President of Sri Jagannath Center – USA, an organization dedicated to the teachings of classical Jyotish from the ancient sages of India. He can be reached at 301-424-6644 or bpfeeley@aol.com

Love, Relationships and Marriage
Woody Allen said that “marriage was the death of hope,” and this is an appropriate viewpoint for somebody with the Moon conjoined Saturn in the seventh house. There is no doubt that this entire topic is the bedrock of powerful cosmological fantasies – of intimacy, passion, oneness, sweetness, kindness, seduction, freedom, independence, fulfilled longing, responsibility, sacrifice, and fear. Shakespeare wrote about it and astrologers are forever talking about the topic. What do we really know and what do the planets tell us? How can we tell if a person is capable of love, capable of relationship or fulfillment in marriage? How do we see the treachery, manipulation, deception, suffering, violence, separation, legal battles and divorce? What does the beautiful Venus and her cohorts have to say about all this? What would Narcissus say? This Venus, this Goddess, this Echo! In Vedic astrology she is said to be the Guru of the demons and the demons are always hungry. Insatiable!

Some highlights from Brendan’s Talk on Love, Relationships and Marriage
The whole of nature is a program, a computer program. The whole of the manifest world is a program and our job is to experience it. And most of us are defended against this experience.

Rishi’s (seers) are divine beings that descended into this world and wrote 3 volumes of scriptures that include the Vedas. Veda means knowledge. These scriptures include a whole series of books on astrology.

Nature has become demonized so we have demonized a part of ourselves.

We should be able to look at a chart and tell if a person will be famous or not or impoverished or not. The rules are that clear. No ifs and or buts. No guessing.

Given a chart with Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter in the first house you can immediately say that this will be a famous person, someone known all over the world.

In the ancient system there are certain yogas. Jyoti means life and Isha means God, so we call this subject Jyotish.

In Jyotish, if you have Jupiter in Sagittarius in the 1rst house, it is known as the Hamsa yoga. Hamsa is a swan. Paramahansa means great swan. The swan is the only creature that is able to drink milk and separate the curd from the whey. It gives perfect discrimination. It means you are a great being.

If you have one of the three benefics (Jupiter, Venus or Mercury) in the 1rst, 4th, 7th or 10th houses, you will walk through this world with ease and you’ll attract all sorts of wealth into your life. These are the most important houses in the chart. Paul Newman had Venus, Jupiter and Mercury in the first house.

You think life is about choice? No. These ancients say that your life is already determined before you come into this world. The choices are already made. You have free will. And your free will is to either curse it or celebrate it, or respond to it. Your free will is to become conscious. Whether there’s going to be violence, whether there’s going to be love, whether there’s going to be passion, whether it’s going to be sexless – that’s already destined as far as I’m concerned. Our choice is either to accept our destiny and become spiritual. We are completely free to become spiritual at anytime. It doesn’t cost you a penny to surrender your heart to God at anytime. That’s what free will is. If you are a person who wants to become a millionaire, you can dream all you like but it won’t happen if it’s not shown in your chart.

Dharma is being in alignment with the intention of the Cosmos.

Mercury is the mimic, it is the best actor, gives the capacity for acting.

Marriage increase dharma. It is the house of God, idealism.

The 3rd house stands for courage. Getting married and having children increases your courage.

In Paul Newman’s chart, all the angular houses after the first house have malifics. Five malifics in angular houses means the first marriage has to go.

The sun is the soul, the moon is the mind. When these two come together, that is where the trouble begins. The mind is a material object of creation, not interest in the Divine. The sun and moon are two opposing forces.

The 7th house represents the reproductive organs. Venus rules the hormones. Instinctual response pulls us into relationships.

The 8th house – death, transformation, chronic diseases.

The 2nd house to any house in your chart destroys the house. 2nd house is the house of sustenance.

Malifics are good in the 3rd and 6th houses, they help you grow. Malifics in the 8th house are the worst for marriage.

The 2nd house shows how you speak. Mars in the 2nd gives critical speech. Mars in the 8th – spouse always criticizing.

Jupiter is the Guru of the God, always teaching divine knowledge. Venus is the guru of the demons. In the Veda, there are no devils outside of the human body. The demons are the senses. Venus teaches the senses because it rules sensuality.

A mantra is a prayer in Sanskrit, there are many including one to ward off disease. Venus is the planet that wakes people from the dead. Relationships, indulging in the senses, brings you back to life. Mars is the one who slams doors. We do not like to become conscious, that’s why we leave relationships.

The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. The 7th house is called the house of death. The mischief begins after sunset.

Venus kills your ego, your sense of individuality. Its does that so we will grow, learn, develop and become human.

If the Lord of the ascendant is weak and aspected by malifics, you will struggle your whole life.
Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter are soft planets, will not make you a computer programmer or engineer but gives artistic talent.

The south node (Ketu) is worse than Mars. Ketu only wants one thing – enlightenment. The north node (Raju) wants success in the world, wants to be famous.
Ketu is a philosopher, wants enlightenment, always doubting. An evolved Ketu is completely detached human being, knows Venus is nonsense, seeks enlightenment. An un-evolved Ketu engages in headless activities. (Chart of Jenny Arness (daughter of James Arness) used as an example. She committed suicide because of love obsession.)

Raju and Ketu are mysterious planets. Osama Bin Laden has Ketu and Mars conjoined in the 1rst house. Whatever planet Ketu conjoins will take away the pleasures of the planet.

Saturn looks old, scrawny, diseased. Saturn’s two sons are calculated points. The chart is divided into 8 parts called horas. The middle portion of Saturn’s hora is Mundi?, the last portion is gulaga. Gulaga? is the poison you consume. Mundi is the poison you gave to others in past lives.

The 4th house rules the mind, is ruled by the moon, early education, mother as teacher. The 4th house is mother Saraswahi?, the Divine mother that blesses you. The real mother of your soul is the Divine mother. Malifics in this house mean a terrible trauma in connection with the mother. Any planet on the Raju/Ketu axis are always in trouble, always some kind of fate, struggle, obsession. Ketu takes everything away. Venus conjunct Ketu and Saturn – nun or monk, ability to dedicate to cause or purpose, obsessed scientist.

InVedic astrology, aspects represent desire. The aspects formed are permanent from your birth chart. The Venus period is 20 years long. Venus Raju brings some kind of relationship or love.

Planet with the most advanced degree is the significator of your soul. If you have malifics in the 4th house - your heart will be broken, heart disease.

The moon is the emotional aspect of the mind, mercury is the intellectual aspect of the mind.

Raju causes emotional and mental shocks.

Summary of William’s Talk on Numerology
Last month in January there was a plane crash. Aviation is under the rulership of Uranus, also the pilot was an Aquarius.

Use the birth name on the birth certificate even after a name change. Can get a lot of info from first name and birth date.

Not difficult to use this system, difficulty level of 1.5 out of 5.

Pythagorean system was demonstrated, a more ancient system is the Calhoun? System which does not use the number 9.

“A” people tend to need glasses, “K” people tend to have sensitivity with their stomachs.

If there is a repeating letter in a name, for example 2 T’s, this can correlate to a transit and some difficulty that will occur at some point.

Example ANN = 1+5+5, likely changes in family environment in first year of life, at 6 years and 11 years old more changes; The number 5 refers to a need for freedom.

Numbers for each day of the month:
1,10,19, 28 =1 Look where the Sun and Leo are in the astrology chart, if not in angular house (1,4, 7, 10) look to where the sign it rules is located.

2,11,20,29 = 2 Look for where the Moon and Cancer are located

3, 12, 21, 30 = 3 Look for Jupiter, Sagitarrius,Pisces - indicates good with children, self-expression, witty

4, 13, 22, 31 = 4 Look for Uranus, Aquarius; 22 = Master builders; indicates intuitive with how things work

5, 14, 23 = 5 Look for Mercury, Virgo, Gemini

6, 15, 24 = 6 Look for Venus, Taurus, Libra

7, 16, 25 = 7 Look for Neptune, Moon, Pisces; Unusual dreams, psychics, loners

8, 17, 26 = 8 Look for Saturn, Capricorn, Aquarius

9, 18, 27 = 9 Look for Mars, Aries, Scorpio

Your Life Path Number = birth year + month + day;
for example Mar 28, 1957 = 1957+03+28 = 1988 (note likely that something important happened that year). Reduce 1988 – 1+9+8+8 = 26 =8 Life Path 8 = powerful, capable with money and finance and authoritative.

Briefly explained triads:
3,6,9 = artistic people
1,5,7 = thinking people
4,2,8 = business people

Your full name gives you your Destiny number – what you most likely will do
Your Life Path number indicates what you should do

If you add up only the vowels in your full name, that gives you your Soul Urge.

Adding up just the consonants gives you your personality number.

The year 2009 = 11 = master number. This year can bring inspirational leaders, gurus, issues with water.
Master numbers occur infrequently in year numbers.

All years that begin with 2000 = 2 indicates rulership by the Moon, indicates shift changes and women more dominant.

Also look at the number 23; many correlations; for example the blood takes 23 minutes to circulate in the body, Earth rotates on axis at 23.5 degree angle.

William also showed the correlation with numerology for the astrology charts of Bruce Lee, Tyra Banks and Ivy Goldstein Jacobson.

Positive: very inventive, innovate and new; Cold – weatherwise and emotionally; Electricity is a major force, will see radical new ideas come into manifestation, discriminate among them and determine which are useful.

Step outside of routine to get anything done when moon void of course. Intuitive if not outright psychic year. Heavy earth year through Oct 2009 – Cap, Virgo. Earth people very comfortable, Air people working with earth people to allow thoughts to become real, Water people feeling uncomfortable in this impersonal and objective time. Venus and Mars spend an inordinate amount of time in fire signs this year.

Pluto in Sag deals with transformation: Nov 1995 – Nov 2008: improvements in gaming, more corporate and institutional; Environment – not a crusade, technical solution

17 years Pluto in Cap, Jan 2008 to Jan 2008, Nov 2008 to Jan 2024; Transformations on the reality level; Transformation of institutions; Challenges anything that has entrenched power; new blocks of power formed; global structure to address global issues, economic, environment, etc. Corporations transformed dramatically, New forms of institutions until after Saturn leaves Virgo.

Archetypal events when Pluto entered Cap – Mumbai killing, Canada Govt, Banghok airports overtaken; Tradition becomes iconic but not connected with reality. Old ideas have no place in this period. Everything becomes more bureaucratic. Religion moves into a reformed, stripped down, political reform; Aging – new stellium of issues. Protocols, operating manuals, everything by the book. The tremendous energy held in institutions is released as it gets transformed.

Capricorn deals with the mineral kingdom. Machines are most significant of that. Epidemics of depression and melancholy. Pluto in Cap 16 times, last time was 1762 – 1768.

Capricorn rules coal – tremendous transformation; cheap energy source, reliably-generated electricity. India, Mexico, Iran are Capricorn places.

Neptune in Aquarius since end of 1998 to Feb 2012. Cycle began in 1852, a mass intoxication with technology. Saturn in Virgo – how to make technology difficult. Jupiter in Virgo – technology will bloom, get a website if you have a business. Saturn in Libra – more concern with issues of privacy. Neptune – global village created by technology, will see more interest groups. Propaganda is important, images all-important. Explosion of bandwidth needed because of You Tube and other video apps.

Uranus in Pisces, 1928 – 2011, cycle defines modern civilization, subversive underbelly, Law of unexpected outcome. The more structured parts of society in greatest amount of trouble.

Saturn in Virgo, major influence on current state of our society, defines societal structures. Look at where you are and what realistically works for you, purity of food issues, health in daily routine. Financial mode what change until Nov 2009. Karma of debt.

Saturn in Libra for 5 ½ months, events that bring opposing forces together; Social commerce, exchange, art renaissance. Lots of opportunity for choices.

Jupiter in Aquarius – Jan 2009 to Jan 2010, always brings the bonus; 12 year cycle began in 1999. Applied technology, humanitarians are new rock stars. Electrical forces in body and brain, acupuncture. How to transform the way electricity is generated. New ideas emerge in social structure, weird digital items, licensing, copyrighting, etc.

Jup/Nep cycle continues through 2022. This is the year to be innovative, entrepreneurial ideas, use technology.

Economics – America’s greatest strength is its infrastructure – bridges, gas stations, roads, refrigerated warehouses, broadband, cell services, sewer systems, etc.

Fashion – dominated by Saturn/Virgo, easy to clean, understated, dark colors, time pieces, aromatherapy, face masks, Sat/Lib - art renaissance, elegance, Jup/Aqu - tattooing

Health care – prevention, obsession with diet/nutrition, stem cell research, touch behavior vs drugs, fear of epidemics, shift to health and wellness, pharmaceuticals, new nervous systems – can’t treat as disease, mutated nervous systems.

Summary of Talk
Anyone can be successful. It’s a matter of overcoming the barriers that we impose upon ourselves that come from not only our conditioning as adults but our conditioning as children. Anything is possible. As much as people are screaming doom and gloom, in the next 20 years as we go through the transit of Pluto in Capricorn, we have some very innovative opportunities coming in.

Pluto at 29 Sag – 29th degree of any planet indicates too late to start anything new. Pluto has been void for the last 4 or 5 weeks. Scorpio is the banks. Pluto has been going through the galactic center (28th – 29th). The galactic center is an interesting place in the sky. You have the archer pointing at the scorpion’s heart. Between the point of the arrow and the scorpion’s heart is the galactic center. In five years between 1985 – 1989 lots of change took place technologically, also in Russia.

For the last 8 years, people have been placed in a position of fear. When you are frozen, you are not prosperous. Pluto, the rebirth of responsibility (Capricorn). Saturn and Uranus were conj in 1987 (issues with insider trading), a lot of careless investing went on at that time. An article about the Sat Uran conj and how erractic the stock market would become at that time. We have between Nov 4, 2008 to July 2010 for Sat/Uranus opp.

Saturn is the last planet that we see. To the ancients it was the limit and reality of the universe. Life changed when Uranus was found. Saturn/Uranus – the jackhammer on the concrete of the streets. The Uranus/Saturn opp about jack-hammering our perceived realities.

From 101 Book: Hierarchy of Needs chart.
One with God – Neptune
Self-Actualization – Uranus
Self-Esteem – Venus
Social – Sun, Mercury, Jupiter
Security – Moon
Physical – Saturn, Mars

You will get what you expect. If you believe you won’t have clients the way you want them, you won’t.
You want to see where Saturn is in a person’s chart to see where they feel limited and where they are confronted with survival issues.

The Saturn oppositions occurs at ages 14, 45 and 75.
Social security was designed so we would collect at 65, but at that time many people were dying at 60.
At 51 or 52 you’re at the same place as when you were 21. Many people in their 50’s and 60’s are now going back to school. Last quarter square is one of the most difficult. Often benefits by taking some sort of educational class. This is a way out of that square.

Saturn is the voice of judgement. The key to success is to find something you like. Don’t share ideas you are still developing with people who will discourage you.
Advice: go out exercise, walk, or hit a punching bag to get rid of the voice of judgment.

On the second rung is Mars. It is the motivation in the horoscope. If we’re motivated by something we do it. Mars square Neptune could be challenging. If you have a challenging Mars, every night make a list that is achievable. Mars can only do one thing at a time. It is task-oriented. Venus is the anti-dote to Mars. Venus allows you to receive. Every planet has an antidote. Mercury and Pluto work together. It’s important to look at the condition of someone’s Mars. Mars went retrograde in our country and will be retrograde via Mar’s progression for 90 years. Mars is spending. Another thing to look at – how you spend your money. Credit cards were developed in 1956. People spend 33 and a third percent more when using credit cards. Money management – Saturn/Mars, putting a budget together.

Homework: Every day make a reasonable request of someone, for example ask for a discount on an item with an past expiration date. Once a week, make an unreasonable request, for example pay for services up front for 1 year and ask for 25% off the total.

Venus is the natural ruler of the 2nd house (Taurus) and 7th (Libra - partnerships). Second house – value systems. You spend your money on what you value. Venus is what you value and how we value ourselves. Self-esteem.

Eight house working with other people’s resources (referring clients to others). Eighth house shows the occupation that will bring you income. The sign that’s on the eight house cusp is how you make your money.

Solar arcs – certain ages 42-48 around time of Saturn opposition, is the time when people are ready to make career or financial changes. Pay attention to when one of the planets is at the ends of its run. If it rules the 2nd house or 8th house, they’re about to change their value system or the way they engage other people for support.

Another issue is technology (3rd house), how do you use your time.

Eleventh house – 2nd house of your 10th house, the way you network to get your career going, groups, friendships, aspirations, your resources, the people that you know. Think about what you like to do, what’s fun for you (5th house), the house of taking risks and speculative ventures. The house of taking an avocation that becomes a vocation.

Most people make their career changes when Saturn leaves the 4th and goes into the 5th.
A lot of people don’t have careers, but do something in the world with which they are identified.

The Moon – there is a fogginess about it. The first seven years of your life, it is what you experienced (your security). Even if dysfunctional, it’s what you see as security. If it doesn’t get reoriented, it will be difficult for a person to make money if they don’t feel safe. Negative belief systems about making money can keep you from making money.

First step is to budget how much you’re going to give away. Give it first to the people who ask. You need to give money to make money. Quality is Saturn. People will buy a lot less, but quality. Sagittarius is about quantity.

There is a difference between early, less-developed Mars and the more developed Mars.. The challenge of a strong Mars is to learn to think before you act.

Chart: Quadrant distributions in the Horoscope from Ray Merriman’s book Evolutionary Astrology
Bottom left: Rogue, Bottom right: Mystic, top left: Global, top right Relationship

A strong rogue quadrant indicates a need to work independently. The Mystic is the toughest because it doesn’t fit well in the western culture. The person is always wondering what they’re going to do with their life, when they don’t realize that their life is a bridge for other people’s lives.
The ideal teacher creates a bridge over which the students can cross. They may never have enough money, but they always have enough to live.

Transiting planets through these quandants will affect this also. Relationship quadrant – dependent on people, Global – can make money by being in groups. The 12th house is the engine for the chart. The Vedics believe its the place of conception of the chart. It’s the unconscious stuff that drives the rest of you.

Outline of Planets and Vocations – in the book but will send outline for free if you contact her.

Unusual configurations. Per Kathryn DeJersey – when you have a strong Uranus in the chart, it is the sign of big concepts and big dealers. Uranus people, about every 7 years they will change direction. By all the work they’ve done, the work will find them. Do a treasure map or make a list of things you would like to. Uranus is also about working in groups collectively. Use new technology.

If there are a lot of conjunctions in their chart, they need to be working for themselves. A lot of planets in cadent houses, are people who connect people, if fixed houses want security, angular houses, don’t stay.

Planetary returns, moments of opportunity. The USA is having a Pluto return. The indoor planets, mercury, mars, sun, etc. If something is coming from behind they can’t see it. In the last pass, they can start to see clearly.

Look at the phased relationship in your natal chart between Saturn and Jupiter.
Phased Relationships between Natal Saturn and Jupiter. Then look at when Jupiter hits their Saturn every 12 years. When Jupiter hits your Saturn, you start a new career..1 ½ year cycles for the phases.

Correspondences between the end of the Mayan Calendar in 2012 and the major Uranus/Pluto square in 2010 and 2011 indicate that we are in for a revolutionary ride that harkens back to the Summer of Love in the late 1960s when Uranus and Pluto were conjunct. This echo of revolutionary spirit can be viewed as an inspired and inspiring time leading up to the grand event of the Galactic Alignment between the Sun and the Center of the Galaxy in 2012. Join us to find out more about the Mayan Calendar and your individual Mayan Day Sign. Learn to use your Mayan Day Sign as a resource to dealing with the increasing stress we are feeling at the close of the Piscean Age.

CD/DVD and other Info
CDs ($10.00) and MP3s ($8.00) of this talk are available from Baltimore NCGR. Available at meetings or contact Teri Taylor 443-794-9126.

Kari provided handouts with information to refer to during her talk. The packet includes a bibliography of recommended books for more info on the Mayan calendar. Kari has a DVD of a talk on the Mayan Calendar given at Breathe Books in Baltimore, in April 2008 that includes a bonus: interview with shamans from Peru on their view of the Mayan Calendar and its ending. The DVD is available from Kari for $15.00.

Some highlights from Kari’s Talk on the Mayan Calendar and Astrology 2008-2012
Mayan's developed calendars for many different functions, such as determining the best times for marriages and planting. This talk discusses the symbolic calendar that focuses on the evolution of man, and has its ending at the winter solstice of 2012.

Have determined that the system is based on the number 20, from there able to determine when calendar ends.

Ceremonial places torn down and a cathedral built out of the stones.

Stella known to have recorded the history of man from their beginnings. Have calculated the beginning of the universe at about 15 billion years ago (big bang), western scientists have calculated it as approx 6 billion years ago.

A time when the sun will align with a particular point in the milky way galaxy.

In Chichen Itza in the Yucatan can see how you can look at how the rising of the sun changes (observe precession) the earth shifts about 1 degree every 72 years. 5125 years ago a similar event occurred that is expected in 2012. Expect the sun in 2012 will intercept a dark place in the milky way; will appear to rise in that dark place, known as the cross roads in Mayan, womb place in Peruvian. A major turning point expected when the sun is in this womb.; sun rising to impregnate the womb of the galaxy.

In Mexico in the vicinity of the pyramid Talapa or in Chichen Itza you will see these phenomena.

Anthropological studies show that body types and blood types were similar. Not sure why a lot of them died out when the Spanish arrived in 1520. Warring cultures developed among the Maya; they gradually moved toward Mexico city. They thought Cortez was there plumed serpent god. They gave him gifts of some of their most precious books including the po po vul. Since the 1950 much research at archeological sites. Able to decipher their pictographs now.

Mayans used the four directions as classifications. 20 days - 5 signs for each of the 4 directions. A different sign for each of the 20 days.

The film Apocalypto made by Mel Gibson recommended - depicts a point in history when a warring faction was coming; they thought they had to placate the gods by human sacrifices.

An astrological age 2172 years, multiplied by 12 equals a precession.

Pluto is in the final degrees of Sag; moving into Cap on Nov 26 for 15 years;
Saturn will move into Libra Oct 30, 2009; Uranus will move in Aries May 30, 2010
Neptune will move into Uranus April 5, 2011 - indicator of entering a new age
Pluto, Saturn and Uranus will all be moving into cardinal signs; in 2014 will create a cardinal cross, indicator of the 4 directions, the beginning of something.

Richard Tarnas (see bibliography) mentioned that it is important to look at world transits. 1960 -1972 Pluto and Uranus were conjunct, 1965/66 in 1 degree of each other. Pluto - deep soul transformation and Uranus - unrest, upheaval;2007-2015 Pluto square Uranus - challenge, being tested, what was learned/needed to be learned in the 60's is now coming to a place of testing. exact between 2012 - 2016.

First page of handout includes description of Mayan underworlds - national, planetary, galactic, universal; these 4 worlds exist simultaneously national started - when nations first developed,
planetary - seeing other worlds -also creation of telescope when other worlds beyond us could be seen in 1700's; galactic - starting to realize we have a divine connection, since 1999 have really started thinking about this; prediction 2011- more telekinetic people.

Similarities between the 1960s and now - Kennedy was youngest and first catholic; if Obama is elected he will be 2nd youngest and 1rst biracial. JFK selected Lyndon Johnson, while Obama chose Joe Biden. Ted Kennedy has endorsed Obama. Michelle - many are commented on what she is wearing, also widely respected like Jackie, law background. parallel with war cycles and expense.

Election day will be exact opposition of Saturn (McCain)and Uranus (Obama). Richard Tarnas says in his book that everything that occurs in one alignment affects another, as if every one born after the 60s bears the effects of the 60s as if having lived then - collective unconscious.

Keep in mind that there are cycles and that you can use wide orbs, to see the similarities between cycles such as current time and the 60s.

World tree appears in the middle of the 4 direction symbols. They believed in reincarnation, you climbed down the world tree at death and climbed it at birth.

The 2012 event (sun conjuncts dark rift) only happens every 26000 years. If you have 28 sag in your chart - pay attention.

Shift of directions, shifts balance of power, ex. rise of India and China in power.

Jun 26, 2010 - Pluto in cap at 6 degrees, Uranus in arise at 6 degrees in mutable houses

Jun 27, 2012 8 deg Uranus, 8 deg Pluto, Jupiter 3 deg Gemini opposing nn in Aquarius

Dec 21 2012 - day of end of Mayan calendar Jupiter in Gemini opp Venus in Sag, Pluto squ Uranus, Chiron squ Jupiter and Venus, a T-sq

April 21 2014 - most exact cardinal cross, Mars in Libra opp Uranus; cardinal grand cross in cardinal houses, houses of change.

Dates for meditation shown on page 6 to bring us closer to 7th sense people - having empathy across large distances.

Some conflicting opinions on end of Calendar. When the calendar ends in 2012, another one begins. The end of the calendar isn't a thing to be dreaded, it means we should be evolving into the belief that we are divine and able to connect with people on telepathic levels and levels beyond speech and touch.

Should we expect a pole shift? Yes sunspots are culminating, could experience drought, and a pole shift. Don't believe it will be the end of the world.

Pyramid will add more levels beyond the 9 after 2012. We are coming into a rebirth.

The Vedic cycle have yugas, they have a similar idea about the cycles as the Mayans. Galactic alignment book discusses the Vedic cycles in relationship to the Mayan calendar.

Peruvian shaman believe 2012 will be an apocalyptic time, earthquakes, floods. Sikh religion say beginning of aquarian age is 2012.

April 17 Meeting

Featured Speaker:
Bradley V. Clark, PMAFMA has been a student of astrology for over 30 years. He has lectured for the AFA and NCGR accenting the mythological foundation of Astrology. He also uses his experience as a certified public accountant in lecturing on how to manage the business aspects of an astrology practice. Brad has been a NCGR member since 1984, is a professional member of AFA and a member of AFAN. He has served as NCGR National and Maryland Chapter Treasurer and is on NCGR's Advisory Board.

Some highlights from Brad's talk on Chiron:
Brad provided several handouts including a list of keywords, the Chiron discovery natal chart, the Saturn return chart of Chiron’s discovery, and some sample individual charts.
Chiron natal chart data: Nov 1, 1977 10:00 am PST, 34N09, 118Wo9, Pasadena, CA – Placidus
Chiron natal chart Saturn return: Aug 26, 2007 12:10 pm EST, Woodlawn, MD 39N19.22 76W43.42 Placidus

I just realized that every April 15, my Sun is opposite my natal Chiron in the 8th house, but what sustains me is that I love this subject.

My objective tonight is to look again at Chiron because it is coming up on its first Saturn return in August of this year (August 26, 2007).

Eris is at bottom of Chiron discovery chart. The story of Eris – she is the goddess that rules chaos. She’s close to my heart because I’m big on the goddess of Necessity – who represents form. They didn’t invite Eris to the party because they didn’t want any chaos. Out of spite, she formed a golden apple and threw it into the crowd. Venus and Hera got into a fight over who should have the apple. The 4th cusp can be either mother or father. Chiron did know his father but didn’t know his mom – she became a tree. Most of the story’s are genesis stories. Eris is the foundation of Chiron’s expression.

The Saturn return is coming up. It is a new cycle in our consciousness (Chiron was discovered on Nov 1, 1977). Look at the discovery chart in relationship to the natal chart and see what’s coming up.

Some examples of Chiron at work were given from charts of John Edwards, Deepak Chopra, Prince William, and Joan Didion. For example, Joan Didion, who currently has a hit play on Broadway – the Year of Magical Thinking, has moon in Chiron. She lost her husband and then a year later lost her daughter.

Chiron is involved in all of this. It’s a useful tool. You probably know the rule of three indicators before you call an event. Chiron is another tool for your toolbox. Chiron is now classified as a comet. What’s a comet? Water and dust – that’s earth. Scorpio is rising in the discovery chart.

Chiron is a highly significant representation of the evolution of astrology. The ancient forms, the archetypes are being refined and focused as befitting the changes we see in humanity. The great goddess Necessity to whom all gods and goddesses, even the fates and furies bow, says that all that is needed is provided. She maintains balance for the continuity of Life, which Joseph Campbell described as “eternity in love with the forms of time”. What we call death is also of her power that sustains the circle of returning and coming of all things. She is the essential form of creator to which all others are symbol and reference. What is not of her is the mystery and that is what we attribute to spirit. Chiron is her disciple of wisdom and her universal child; always old and young. His bond with necessity is what sustains him, and his story which is every man and every woman’s story in essence. What image in astrology is more accessible to us? Chiron represents the image of the life well-lived.

One keyword from Brad (based on the glyph) is OK. Brad did not discuss the keywords but provided a handout with a list of keywords.

Feb 20 Meeting

Featured Speakers
Judy Jakubowski and Will Fellows presented a talk on Magi Astrology. Judy is a psychologist at John Hopkins University as well as an astrologer. Will is an electrical engineer, inventor and astrologer who was also raised by an astrologer.

Summary of Judy's talk:
The intention of the talk is to give a basic understanding of Magi astrology as it relates to love relationships. Also to learn how to identify a soul-mated, true love, marital-type relationship. And also to learn how to identify someone who will break your heart.

Magi astrology dates back to 1625 when a group of monks formed a secret society of astrologers in China. They were known for their remarkable ability to predict certain matters like birth, marriages, deaths, war and peace. For hundreds of years this society remained very secretive and membership was very limited. The members left their homeland in the period from 1945-1948 anticipating that the communists would overtake China. They settled in Hong Kong. The society now has a world wide membership and a chapter of the society was founded in the U.S. in 1995. There is a huge website where you can get all of this information and more at www.magisociety.com.

The use of planetary geometry is one of the secrets of the Magi Society. And this refers to the shapes and patterns that are formed when you connect planets to each other. Analyzing this planetary geometry helps in predicting certain events. When three or more planets form a symmetrical pattern in the sky, they learned that the chances of an important event happening was very high. Those eight symmetrical patterns are the yod, t-square, grand trine, grand cross, golden rectangle, grand sextile, kite, and star of David. When planets form one of these symmetrical patterns it was considered to be a significant sign and celestial sign that a big event was about to happen. (Judy passed out a chart of herself and someone else and briefly explained the process of analyzing the relationship using Magi Astrology to determine the outcome of a relationship). The planetary geometry can determine who you are the most harmonious with.

The meanings of the planets help us in improving our success in matters of love. In matters of love, these are some of the most important meanings of the planets. Venus is considered to be a romance planet, has dominion over seduction, attraction, desire in the female, the art of making love, beauty and sex appeal. Mars is considered to be a sexual planet and has dominion over the sexual drive, especially in a male. Also the body itself, aggressiveness, energy, anger, and taking action. Pluto is considered a sexual planet and it is the ruler of sexuality, of lust, of obsessive desire and the sex act. Neptune is considered a romance planet and rules longevity and anything long term such as marriage. Jupiter is symbolic of forgiveness, selfless love, fullfilled dreams, wisdom and success. Saturn is considered the planet of control and dominance. It is the restriction of what is good and expansion of what is harmful. It also signifies temptations of all kinds and the inability to resist them. It is also symbolic of deceitfulness and lies. Uranus is symbolic of freedom and independence and the urge for both. It also represents excitement, thrill-seeking and change. Mercury governs communication, and the conveyance of ideas and messages. The Moon governs emotions, the psyche, fluctuating moods, and the subconscious. Chiron, according to this system, is considered a romance planet (rather than as an asteroid) and has rulership over emotional, ties, weddings, marriages, family, children and spouse. Therefore it represents the marriage and romance target. The Chiron linkage is the most powerful linkage in relationships. When two people are attracted to each other and form a Chiron linkage, they are likely to think they are in love.

Some basic terms used are: Aspects- only conjunction, trine, square, opposition and quincunx are used. In the declinations chart they use parallel and contra-parallel. Inner Aspect - the result of the alignment of two natal planets where each person is contributing a planet and the planets form an aspect angle to each other (3 degree orb maximum). Inner aspects tell about attraction or friction between two people. Trines, conjunctions, or quincunxes assist in compatibility and are called linkages. Linkages - inner aspects that promote compatibility between two people. Activation - stressful, create short-term attraction, but end in conflict.

In every woman or man's life there is a period of time reserved by the stars when you are meant to meet that special person. This is called your Cinderella Time, when you are the most desirable and intriguing. This would be the best time to fulfill your romantic dreams. This time occurs whenever transiting Chiron is making a magical angle to your Venus, Neptune, or Jupiter, or when one of these is transiting and making a magical angle to your Chiron. You only have a couple or so in a lifetime.

Summary of Will's talk:
Will's focus was discussing how Magi astrology can be applied. The Magi principles can be applied to your natal chart, a combined alignment chart, and transit charts. It's important, for example to choose your wedding day properly. He gave an example of the chart of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. Will explained the Magi process as applied to analyzing charts. Parallels are very key. Some planets that are not in aspect are in parallel.

Quick rules of thumb:
Look for linkages. Then looks for patterns that form. For example Tom Braden was born a superstar. He has three configurations in his chart, called a flying eagle. Take note of certain days, for example wedding days. Avoiding Saturn aspects. Make sure Chiron doesn't have bad aspects to the luminaries. Neptune is very important (the Divine plan). It shows how things in your total chart evolve. Appy the transits to your composites. List your magical aspects and your turbulent aspects for both your natal and composite chart. Look at applying and separating aspects. For example, a mercury retrograde can be applying to a natal aspect and activate it.

Will reviewed key points of charts of Michael Douglas and Katherine Zeta Jones. They were dynamic as individuals and more dynamic as a couple. They were born on the same day. Their composite chart shows that Katherine's Pluto is conjunct Michael's Chiron. There are three romantic super-linkages in their composite chart. Parallels are like conjunctions, extremely powerful. Their Suns are conjunct and superlinkages shown in the parallels.

Will also reviewed key points of Colin Powell and his Wife's wedding day chart. There was a Cinderella aspect where Chiron was conjunct Jupiter and trine Neptune. The Sun was also parallel Uranus. At the midheaven, the Moon was linked to Mars.

Brad Pitt married Jennifer Aniston on a heart break day. The Sun was conjunct Saturn inconjunct Chiron. You don't want Saturn to aspect Chiron on a special day. There was also a nuclear clash - Jupiter parallel conjunct Saturn parallel the Sun. Saturn wore down the energies of this very dynamic couple. There were two strong aspects that were difficult to overcome. You can find these charts on the Magi website.

Jack Nicholson and Angelica Houston - Although they stayed together 17 years, they had a Saturn clash, and a heart break clash in their composite chart.

Judy wrapped up the talk by explaining the 10 principles of Magi Astrology:
1. The most likely time to meet your true love is during a Cinderella transit.
2. The more Cinderella transits you are having, the more likely you are to meet your true love.
3. If you meet someone when you are having a heartbreak transit, it is likely this person will break your heart.
4. If a couple does not form a Romantic Super Linkage, it is unlikely that they will marry.
5. If a couple form a heartbreak clash, it is very likely that their relationship will end in heartbreak.
6. If a couple form a Sexual Linkage, they have to be careful not to mistake lust for love.
7. The more linkages a couple form, the more compatible they are.
8. The more clashes a couple form, the more incompatible they are.
9. If a couple form more clashes than linkages, they are not compatible.
10. If a couple marry on a bad astrological day, their marriage will likely result in heartbreak.

CDs of this talk will be available for $10.00 at the April 17 meeting.

Educational Session:
Helmut Licht discussed the grouping of the astrological signs by element (triplicities) and by mode (quadruplicity). He also discussed the meanings of the three decanates for each sign. Helmut provided detailed handouts.

A CD of this class will be available along with the CD of Judy and Will's talk at the April 17 meeting.

Announcements
Kitty Hatcher announced a new member - Nancy Bush. Nancy is a recent arrival from Texas and has been using astrology for many years.

Featured Speaker
Carol Devine discussed predictions for 2007 using the USA First Congress and USA Sibley charts and George Bush’s chart. A copy of the charts discussed are included. Some highlights of her talk are given below. CDs of her talk will be available at the Feb. meeting for $10.00.* The north node went into Pisces on June 27, 2006 – we’re being drawn to ideas of compassion and sensitivity to others. Examples: charity by celebrities, and corporations such as Walmart.* Mars – consciousness, shifts into a new direction when the NN changes signs. Pisces is disposited by Neptune so we should look at things Neptune rules such as oil.* NY is on a fault line, there was a recent article about gas leaks indicating an earth quake is to come. On Jan 9, 200 ducks were found dead in Boise Idaho.* Saturn transiting opposite Neptune. I take seriously deception, oil leaks, global warming. We should take our environment issues seriously. If we mean what we feel, we should be taking action.
* George Bush chart: o Saturn approaching a square to progressed Jupiter – a need to take one’s thinking seriously and build a new foundation. He has Leo rising and Jupiter rules the 5th, decisions he has made could be based on this Leo. Leo doesn’t like to apologize; won’t culminate this year but is going on.o Neptune in the 3rd house can be creative and imaginative or believe untruths. Neptune rules his 8th and 9th – other people’s power/legislature issues within next 10 months. Saturn transiting Venus indicates loneliness. o Mar 3 – eclipse at 13 Virgo will be close to his Mars at 9 Virgo and progressed Sun at 11 Virgo. o Between April 11 – Jul 10 his popularity may sink lower -- Neptune opposite Venus (rules 4th – his home base); most critical time of year.o Aug 28 – eclipse at 4 Pisceso Oct 19 – progressed Neptune square natal Neptune from mid-Oct to mid-Nov, He may feel perplexed about what decisions to make; could also be something Neptunian going on in Nature and he doesn’t know what to do.o Jan 8 – Jupiter transiting Neptune – a lack of good judgment; in conflict with others judgement.

* U.S. charts – First Congress vs Sibleyo Difficult to decide which chart should be the “real” U.S. Chart

* Dates from First Congress Chart:
Jan 1, 2007o Feb 4 – Saturn opposite Venus (children, ego) – strong public conflict with goals. Saturn rules 7th, Venus rules intercepted 11th and 5th; could feel we have a heavy burden and not reaching our goals.
Jupiter square Sun –unrealistic expectations; Saturn opposite Venus and Mars in 9th – fatigue, tired of situation, Mars by solar arc went into Libra 2 months ago at the time the legislature changed.
o Feb 15 – great release of tension and feeling of a burden lifted, a sudden awakening of people.
o Mar 3 – eclipse opposite Sun conjunct Midheaven – should be a very surprising time and go on for a year.
o Mar 18 – 28 Pisces eclipse – occurred last year at 29 Pisces – the country is having a crisis, i.e. the need to make a choice
o Mar 1 – Pluto stations Sagittarius. Pluto rules intercepted 5th located in the 8thh, gamble of taxpayers money, of other people cooperating. Pluto goes into Capricorn in a couple of years; could have something serious to deal with.
o May 12 – nodes transit Saturno May and June – a serious time regarding deceptions for the publico Late Aug 07 may be critical – Saturn opposite Mars and progressed Moon
o Sep 2 – Saturn in Virgo opposing Libra planets
o Late Oct 07 – progressed Moon square Saturn – public and their powero Progressed Moon square Sun around Thanksgiving 07

* Sibley Chart:
o 2nd house Mercury ? Uranus by Solar Arc conjoins Pluto – a total changeo Transiting Saturn will oppose the Moon in summer 07 – taxes, others imposing will on the people, depression for the country
o Mars went into retrograde last summer for first time in U.S. history; was in Libra the sign of war. Libra rules the 7th – open enemies; perhaps public looking at war differently
o Jan 20 – Uranus squares ASC – surprising news, awakening of country
o Jan 25 – Semisquare Pluto – country was born impatient, throwing out baby with bathwater
o Feb – some confusiono Mar 5 – eclipse 13 Virgo – disruptive eventso Mar 18 – eclipse opposite MC
o Late June – Jupiter goes over ASC
o Aug – Sep – Saturn oppositions
o Dec 07 – Progressed Sun trines Venus; transiting Saturn sextiles the Moon
