September 19 Meeting

The guest speaker for the evening was Gilbert Navarro, a well-known and well-respected horary astrologer who has been in practice for over twenty five years. Gilbert treated us to an engrossing lecture on how to use horary astrology. Gilbert’s lecture began with an example of how to use horary astrology to locate a missing object. Specifically, he used it to locate the transparences he had misplaced and needed for the lecture! He provided handouts with example charts used during the lecture and notes on some elements used in horary astrology. He continued the lecture with an example of how he answered the question from a client, “Will I pass the bar exam?” Some of the points he made regarding horary astrology include: if the moon makes a good aspect to the sun, you’ll find what you need; the ruler of the 2nd house indicates the missing possession. He also made the case that the 10th house represents the mother and the 4th the father because the mother is always known but the father may be unknown. He recommended setting the date and time of the chart at the date/time you receive the question from the querent using the querent’s location and timezone. The question will always be born at the right time. Gilbert concluded with a tribute to his mentor Ivy M. Goldstein-Jacobson, who started him on his path as a horary astrologer. Unfortunately, the lecture was not taped however we plan to tape all future lectures.

Prior to the lecture, Helmut Licht provided the educational portion of the program. He gave us an overview of the meaning of the houses including a discussion of how to locate the houses related to others. For example, the 5th house represents your first child and the 7th represents your second. He also noted that there was a theory that the number of planets in your 7th house indicates how many marriages you will have.

- Margie’s daughter Gail, informed us that Margie is recovering quickly from her stroke and is in good spirits; busy studying her chart and continuing to do business. We passed around a card for members to sign to send to her.

- The NCGR conference is from March 8-12, 2007. A substantial discount is provided if registration is done before Oct 1.

- We will not have a meeting in March 2007, since the conference will be the week before.

Margie will not be able to be Program Director. A volunteer is needed for this position. Speakers are scheduled through the fall. No speaker will be needed in March. Brad Clark has agreed to speak at our April meeting. He is going to talk about Chiron. There is a tentative speaker for May. For the January meeting, we are thinking of having a person or a panel to talk about 2007 predictions. For the February (Valentine) meeting, we would love to have a person or a panel talk about love or relationships.

Volunteers are welcome to assist Maria with telephone calls to remind members about the meetings, as well as to donate books for the library. Each book will be loaned out with a $5.00 fee and the $5.00 refunded when the book is returned.
